720 repair

finding the lost 'r'

At 720 Repair our mission is to inspire the Santa Fe community to embrace the art of repair. We believe that repair is not only a practical skill, but a mindset that fosters sustainability and creativity. Through repair services, hands-on “repair circles,” and community engagement, we aim to educate and empower fellow Santa Feans to restore repair to the classic mantra "reduce, reuse and recycle". Join us in finding the lost 'r' and uncover a culture where repair is part of everyday life and everyone has the skills to participate in a more sustainable future.

Ethos

Things break. We can’t do much about that. But once something does break, we definitely have a choice. Should I throw it out and buy a new one? Or should I fix it and keep using it? 720 Repair is focused on the second choice. 720 Repair’s mission is to enable repair in the Santa Fe community. Through education, repair circles and community building, 720 Repair hopes to increase the lifetime of everyday items by fixing them when they break, and decrease the amount of stuff that goes into our landfills.

Education

Repairing things is a skill that can be learned. It’s no different than writing your name, doing arithmetic, or cooking dinner.  It’s a teachable skill.  As part of encouraging and increasing repair in the Santa Fe area, 720 Repair provides repair education through its blog, repair events and its everyday operation.  Folks can learn the basic structure of the repair process, increase their knowledge of how particular items work, and use this knowledge to fix those items when they break.  In doing so, they increase their self-confidence and lessen their impact on the environment.

Repair Circles

The best way to learn how to repair something is to roll up your sleeves and fix it! Of course, it may not be the best idea to simply plunge into something on your own – especially if it is expensive or potentially dangerous – so 720 Repair offers “repair circles” to provide help and advice on fixing your broken items. Please feel free to join us at an upcoming repair circle. Bring your broken gizmo, any appropriate tools you have, and we’ll take a look at it together. There’s a very good chance that you’ll leave with a fully working gizmo and big smile on your face.

Book a Repair

Folks can’t always repair their broken stuff on their own. Sometimes they don’t have the knowledge. Often they don’t have the time. But that doesn’t change the fact that they would still like to get it repaired! If you’re in this boat, please feel free to book a repair with us. We’ll give you an estimate for making the repair, and, once we have your approval, we’ll do the repair. We’ll keep you fully informed along the way so there will be no surprises.  When we’re done, you have our word that you’ll be satisfied.
